Act Now for Free Burma is a grassroot organization which promotes human rights and restoration of democracy in Burma(Myanmar).

Burma, a South East Asian country, surrounded by India, China and Thailand, has been under the brutal military dictatorial regime since 1988. In 1990, National League for Democracy (NLD) party led by Aung San Suu Kyi  won landslide in election. However, the military junta did not transfer power to the elected NLD party and brutally crashed down the pro-democarcy activists. On September 2007, there was a huge pro-demoracy uprising led by Buddhist monks and students in Burma, which we called "Surffron Revolution". Since then, the military junta killed the dissident monks and activists again.  Therfore, a group of exile Burmese in U.S  formed Actnowforfreeburma to support the activists inside Burma.
